9:46 am - well, let's do the time warp again

7:24 pm - never before
i've never had to wipe and reinstall my hard drive before. i'm about to finish moving my relavent data that i want to save to my backup hard drive. (so many mp3's!) then i take her offline and she goes under the knife.

i sort of lost some key files last week when i was deleting a couple programs i wasn't using. i accidently clicked yes instead of no for something and didn't realize my mistake until i had another program failure with a specific error message. the program couldn't function without a file it was joined to and could no longer find. i had already emptied the recycle bin because it had been getting full.

bugger.

well, spring cleaning is about to commence a little early and in an area of my life i hadn't quite expected.

1:51 pm - eggs the other white meat
i made a supremely wondrous omelette for breakfast today. i was so excited about it i grabbed a bunch of oranges from the fruit bowl and sqeezed some fresh o.j. to go with it!

why was i so excited? because i'm just learning how to really cook. my guy 'tko' makes a mean omelette and espresso so i thought i should catch up. he just up and decided to teach himself to cook right about when we started going out. everything he makes is amazing (says the homnivore re: the vegetarian's cooking). it sort of shamed me into trying to cook a little more than the couple dishes i know.

now that i've binged, i'm gonna go purge!

the federal government intervention to protect careless & stupid people from themselves:

yesterday the shrub issued a national moratorium on the use of pyrotechnics in smaller clubs (because americans are to stupid to abide by current health/safety codes which should be sufficient).

the federal government interfering in state business (uninvited):

i heard on npr that the medicinal pot smokers who were recently found guilty are now facing up to 3 years and up to $250K in fines. the dea proudly announced that they shut down 11 .coms that sold "drug paraphernalia". the statement included a pledge to go after more .coms and even try to make it illegal to be in that sort of business online.

12:06 am - birthday
remember the quick birthday summary? the irish pub in saratoga...while walking about saratoga we stumbled into the greatest pub atmospher-wise. it's irish owned, older/well established and decked out in a very aged-chic-victorian manner. tko and i are going to assemble a sibling outing.

we're gonna pop in w/ me siblings on 3/17. my sister's s.o. and whoever my brother brings ought to round out the party. we're planning on cabbing it all about so we can get smashed and maybe map out a pub crawl. maybe we'll get tko's older bro and sis-in-law to join us.

i was in the hospital last st. paddy's day so i have some making up to do.

:D

8:36 am - with 2.5 hours sleep what the fuck am i doing awake?
need coffee.

tko and i had an awesome valentines day. we started out the evening at my aunt and uncle's house. they live near the local winery and my uncle is a total wine connoiseur to boot. he and tko and another gentleman just shot the shit for awhile over that. i think tko was trying to get some referrals to some of the good stuff out there. my uncle opened up the most perfect merlot i've ever tasted. we had to go after splitting a slice of birthday cake.

my aunt wouldn't let us leave until she'd taken a couple pictures of us. she said we looked too nice not to. no one has ever treated one of me beau's like that before. of course i haven't dated too many people who like to get dresses up for a night on the town. my uncle invited us both back for a dip in the hot tub. that took me by surprise too. but tko thinks my uncle is an amazing guy...must be mutual.

we decided on a whim to go to this very in demand restaurant in LG called the green papaya. it's owned by tko's friend. they used to work together many years ago and have always been pretty close. the place had been booked up for last night since 3 weeks ago the owner told us when he came to hang out at our table.

tko called ahead at 9. we thought the place would be slowing down, but it wasn't. the owner, P, said he'd have a table set in 30 minutes. well, by the time we walked in at 930pm the place was still packed. (we got out of my aunt & uncle's a little later than planned but it's always difficult to exit a family function of mine. the good-byes are always lengthy :) so, we decided to go two doors down to the black watch. P said he would come get us as soon as something opened up. at 10pm he found us in the back over a couple guinness.

dinner was an amazing culinary experience. the appetizers-veggie spring roles (tko's a vegetarian) and breaded quail halves (my favorite of the evening), and he had this amazing eggplant dish (i know because he cut me a few slices and put them on my plate to try out), and i had the rack of lamb which was arranged around an ornate mound of rice; and that was the most amazing rice i've ever had, i only wish i could have gotten the recipe out of P. and we had a chocolate chip cheesecake with a layer of mousse, some fudge slivers and chocolate shavings on top. the plate was covered in drizzled raspberry sauce and chocolate.

by the time we sat back and tried to breathe after putting away all that food, it was midnight and we were the last people in the joint aside from a table of P's friends and his sister and wife.

we topped the evening off by blowing off the run to the city and headed back to his place for some mattress dancing. i didn't get out of there until 4am. and dammit here i am wide awake. that's the only poor thing about my new school schedule, my body wakes up at the same time every day now prompted or not: 7-8am.

gotta go hydrate, too much good wine last night.

happy valentines day to all and to all a good president's day weekend!

2:28 pm - kevin pollack outing
kevin pollack rules the school. his quick witted comedy really hit the spot. the time just flew. he came on at 10:30 and then suddenly it was midnight. and his impressions just brought the house down. i think the christopher walken one did the most damage. people were howling - literally.

let's see i remember a few of the cracks he made. . .Collapse )

10:21 am - family ties
i've been pretty busy lately. i haven't had time to post. i suppose that's ok. i've had a lot on my mind and my plate these last two weeks. i've been thinking a lot about the more important things in life as well. i've been asking questions like: what is important to me? why? what am i doing right now to end up where i want to be? (and others along that line) don't mistake me for anyone with all the answers, but i've realized that i need to spend more time with my family. so that's what i've been doing lately.

my dad and i went to dinner together last week. i couldn't remember the last time we'd done that. saturday morning i saw my cousin's soccer game and her mom coaching in that fiercely competitive way of hers. there sitting proudly on the sidelines was the matriarch of the family - my grandma. there on the back of her chair in black indelible ink was the word "MOM". (how cute is that?)

friday after work i caught up with a friend that had been laid off. we had had been hired at about the same time. he has since found work elsewhere. he's also taken extra contracting jobs on his saturday mornings. i didn't totally understand why he was killing himself right now. he said he was saving up for a home and he wants to buy it back in atlanta where a large majority of his family reside. he wants this all in the next 5-10 years. the icing on the cake is that he'd also like to stop working all together and just play golf. he thinks these goals are within his reach. and whether they are or not it's amazing that he's reaching out for such things.

when i got home my sister was there studying. as soon as she was done and available we hung out for a bit. it was kind of like being little again at my parents house. my mom had to be up early for something, my dad kept shooshing us, and we kept giggling over all kinds of stuff. the next morning she pulled me out of bed a lot earlier than i'm accustomed to waking up but i wasn't going to tell her "no" when she asked me to breakfast. i've missed too many opportunities to hang out with no better reason than i was tired, not up to the drive to xxx-city she was living in, or i just didn't realize i was unmotivated and ungrateful for time with her because i was distracted by my own everyday little problems. so i leapt on this chance.

we had so much fun. we also discussed serious stuff going on in her life too but i won't go into that. i'm just glad that i now have the time and opportunity to reevaluate how i'm spending my time. how do i value my family? and do i let them know that i do? do i let them know enough that i do love them? that i'm grateful for them and all that they've done/do in my life?

r.s.i. blows - my wrist to my arm is killing me today

but in other news so does anna nicole smith. she's on hollywood squares. she seems unable to travel without her assistant and rat-dog. oddly, the only questions she's getting are true/false.

she's not doing so hot either.
